Course Description:

The course presents an overview of the infection control processes as it pertains to hearing healthcare. Topics include: The Chain of Infection, Infection and Disease, the Immune System, common Diseases encountered in Hearing Healthcare, Safety Procedures, Sample Protocols, Categorization of Staff Members and Equipment, Staff Inoculations, and Guidelines for dealing with contagious respiratory pathogens.

 Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the chain of infection and how it pertains to the hearing healthcare practice.
2. Understand the importance of infection control for patients and office personnel.
3. Distinguish between the infection control procedures (i.e., cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization) and know where each is applicable.
4. Create and implement strategies for day-to-day office operations.
5. Prepare the foundation for the creation of an infection control plan for the practice.
             

Speaker: Joseph Vespe, MS, MBA, Warner Tech

Speaker Bio: Joseph A. Vespe, a native New Yorker, earned his MBA in Marketing Management from St. John’s University and MS in Cell Biology from Long Island University. He is currently the President and CEO of VespTech Inc, a Long Island-based international consulting company he founded in 2018. Mr. Vespe directed operations of the Hal-Hen Company from 1997 until its sale to the Warner Tech-care Company in 2018. Prior to that he held executive positions in the Biotechnology industry and was the founder and CEO of American Synthesis, Inc., a manufacturer of custom molecules, scientific instruments, and reagents for bio-molecular research. Having developed and implemented training programs for both the technical and non-technical, he is a subscriber to the adage that learning doesn't have to be boring to be interesting and informative.
